The Business of Art Brings Creatives and Entrepreneurs Together to Strengthen Northeast Indiana’s Arts Economy
ANGOLA, Ind. — Artists, creatives, and small business owners from across Northeast Indiana gathered for The Business of Art, a one-day event designed to help creatives build sustainable careers by strengthening the business side of their work.
Hosted by Steuben Arts Scene, the event brought together painters, musicians, makers, writers, and arts advocates for practical conversations around pricing, branding, marketing, and long-term sustainability in the creative economy.
The Business of Art focused on bridging the gap between creativity and entrepreneurship, offering attendees real-world tools they can apply immediately—whether they are just starting out or looking to grow an existing creative business.
“Creativity doesn’t stop at the art itself,” said an event organizer. “For artists to thrive long-term, they need access to the same business knowledge and support systems as any other entrepreneur. This event was about giving creatives confidence, clarity, and community.”
Throughout the day, participants engaged in educational sessions, shared experiences with fellow creatives, and connected with local resources designed to support artists beyond the event. Attendees also had opportunities to network, collaborate, and learn from peers navigating similar challenges in the creative space.
The event reinforced the important role artists play in the region’s economic and cultural vitality. By equipping creatives with business tools and fostering collaboration, The Business of Art supports a stronger, more resilient arts ecosystem in Steuben County and beyond.
Steuben Arts Scene plans to continue offering programming that elevates artists, strengthens creative businesses, and connects the arts to broader economic development efforts throughout the region.
